FAQ: FAQ

What is henna?

Henna is made from the dried and ground leaves of a plant. It is made into a paste and contains essential oil.

How is henna applied?

The henna paste is applied using a tool called a cone. This is a soft malleable cone-shaped tube with the tip cut to size. The paste is applied to the skin in much the same way that icing is applied to a cake. The paste appears dark brown or black when it dries.

Henna Aftercare, what's that?

Leave it on! Henna should be kept on the skin for a good 6 to 8 hours. Dried henna peices will fall off periodically and that is ok.

Keep it dry!  Stay away from water on the henna'd skin for 24 hours. This will give you the darkest stain.

Keep it warm - henna loves heat so whatever you can do to stay warm is a great idea.

Wait - henna takes time to 'bloom' on your skin. The henna stain starts off bright orange and steadily increases to a deep chocalate brown tone over 1 to 2 days AFTER you remove the paste!

How long does it take?

The time a design takes depends on many factors, including the size, detail and location. It can be anything from under two minutes to over two hours for a single design. Extensive bridal work often takes 5-6 hours.

How long does it last?

Most people will get around 1-2 weeks from their henna, depending on their skin chemistry, the location of the design and how well the preparation and aftercare instructions are followed. A few people will get less, some longer.

Do you do custom designs?

Yes.

Do you take private appointments/ parties/ functions etc?

Yes, Henna Spot Qatar is available for all types of bookings, large or small. Some suggestions for henna are:  baby showers, festivals, Arabian themed events, , birthday parties, corporate events, promotional events, private appointments, ... The list is endless!

WHAT IS BLACK HENNA?

Black henna is a paste made by mixing a little bit of henna, and a majority of things that are really bad for your skin, specifically: PPD (a chemical found in permanent hair dye), charcoal, kerosene and other chemicals. Chemicals such as these can cause lead poisoning, painful sores and permanent scarring. Henna is NOT black and when natural henna is used, it will always stain in shades of red and brown. HENNA SPOT QATAR does not use or encourage the use of black henna.
